Try-out/Evaluation Information - 2010

Tryouts and player evaluations for mites and above are conducted in order to offer different levels of play for our players based on their skill and commitment.

The ‘A’ classification is highly competitive, requires very good ball skills and a commitment to frequent travel and tournament play.

The ‘B’ classification is competitive, requires good skills and a commitment to some travel.

The ‘C’ classification is for recreational play and or skill development and is mostly played within the SVI District.

Provincial Championships are available in all three classifications.

There will be separate tryouts for any players wishing to be selected to play on an ‘A’ and ‘B’ team.

Players must attend a minimum of one two hour evaluation to qualify for selection to an ’A’ or ‘B’ team. Those players unable to attend tryouts for a valid reason but wishing to be considered must provide a letter to the President or 1st Vice President, prior to the tryouts, listing their ball experience, a coaching reference, reasons for consideration and why they were unable to attend.

The number of teams within each age group will depend on player registration and the classification levels will be determined from the tryout results. Senior and Junior teams may be considered in the ‘B’ classification if there is sufficient interest and demonstrated skill.

All payers, Mite age and above who have not been selected for an ‘A’ or ‘B’ team, are requested to attend the ‘C’ evaluations. All players will be assigned to teams based upon their individual skills with the express purpose of creating teams of equal ability.

All team selections will be finalized by the coaching committee and will then be approved by the Voted Executive on conclusion of the evaluation process.
